Road mishap claims woman; driver, handyman injured

Kangpokpi, May 27 2014:
In a fatal road accident early this morning at around 4:30 near Yaikongpao village under Kangpokpi Police Station along the National Highway, a woman died on the spot while two other sustained injury.
The identity of the deceased woman has not been ascertained till the filling of this report, while the driver of the ill-fated vehicle who sustained a minor injury on his forehead has been identified as Md.Najir (26) s/o Md.Abdul Latif of Sora under Kakching PS of Thoubal District and identity of the handyman who is undergoing treatment at CHC, Kangpokpi has been established as Md.Ajij (22) s/o Md.Khamba, also from Sora, according to police source.

The source continued that the deceased woman boarded the 10 tyre-truck carrying iron scraps and heading towards Dimapur side from near the NRL Oil Pump, Mantripukhri, Imphal early in the morning.
The trio had their meal at Sekmai and proceeded the journey when they met the unfortunate accident.
The driver of the vehicle told cops that the deceased woman disclosed her name as one Apikpa from Kwakta, Thingjel Leikai, Imphal before boarding the vehicle, added the police source.
Whitish in complexion, 4'10" height and long black hair, the deceased woman wore white shirt, orange phanek with purple and red stripped Chunni, the source said and continued that she also wore bangles on both hands, a ring in the middle finger on the left hand and nose ring.
The dead body of the deceased woman which has been deposited at JNIMS Morgue for post mortem bored bruised marks on her neck, left leg and right knee, source added.
