Thoubal, May 27 2014:
Even as the District Vigilance Committee (DVC), Chandel has withdrawn its allegation levelled against ADC Chairman Lhukhosei Zou regarding fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 58, 14,000 from SBI Chandel, BJP Chandel Unit has vowed to carry the case forward until the Chairman is booked for his alleged misdeed.
It may be mentioned that DVC, Chandel and BJP Chandel, in a joint statement issued on May 24, had alleged the Chairman of withdrawing Rs 58, 14,000 meant for development works under under 13th Finance Commission and 13th Approved Action Plan of ADC Chandel.
The joint statement said that the amount was encashed from SBI Chandel branch during the Chairman's inspection visit to the bank on May 12 .
However, taking a U-turn, DVC president BD Betha Anal yesterday said that the allegation was nothing but a mistake of the committee, which it had realized later in a meeting with the ADC Chairman, held at his official quarter in Lamphelpat on May 26 .
On the other hand, the BJP Chandel strongly reacted against the DVC statement and said that it would not retreat from its earlier stand but deal with the matter seriously so as to book the culprit for stringent action.
Expressing disappointment of the party over the outcome of the meeting, Vice-president of BJP Chandel, Ts Konal in his statement to the media conveyed that the BJP Chandel would continue to take the case forward.
