Imphal, May 27 2014:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) constituted against the abduction of Irungbam Irabanta allegedly by NSCN-IM has decried the inaction of the State Government on the issue.
Irabanta left home on May 27, 2012 and he could not be traced ever since.
Speaking to media persons at the rented room once occupied by Irabanta near JN Hospital 3rd gate today, JAC convenor Radhamani Amakcham said that the Government's silence on the matter even though the abduction took place two years back has been multiplying the woes of the worried family.
Irabanta's wife and child are being looked after by people of the neighbourhood.
But their woes have been multiplying with each passing day since Irabanta, the only bread winner of the family was abducted.
Urging the Government to ascertain whether Irabanta is still alive or dead, Radhamani also appealed to the State Government to make small arrangement so that Irabanta's family can earn their livelihood.
Irabanta's wife Modhubala said that uncertainty over the fate of her husband has become a constant source of anxiety and stress.
She urged the Government to investigate into the case and come up with a conclusion whether her husband is alive or dead.
Winner Tangkhul who went with Irabanta and allegedly involved in the abduction case has been released from Sajiwa Jail, she said.
Notably, it was Winner Tangkhul s/o Ramshing Tangkhul from Ukhrul who took away Irungbam Irabanta (38) s/o late Kerani Meitei of Nongdam Maning Leikai in a Maruti Gypsy (MN01K-2171) on May 27, 2012 from his rented quarter in Porompat on the pretext settling a dispute over a supply work of Maphou Dam.
