UCM stands for Manipuri diaspora

United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Konthoujam said that UCM always stand for Manipuri diaspora, who have settled in different parts of the world.
UCM consultative member H Ibotombi Khuman flagged off a team of artisans of the state from the UCM office on Friday to participate in the North East Handloom and Handicraft Mela to be held at Agartala, Tripura from March 12 to 16 .
The artisan team would be participating in the exhibition cum fair under the joint aegis of UCM and Puthiba Welfare & Cultural Society.
Along with the artisan team, another team led by UCM president Joychandra was also flagged off for a tour to reconnect Manipuris residing in different states of northeast.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibotombi informed that the UCM team would be visiting Manipuri settlements in different parts of the northeast and find out issues they are facing.
He also said that the artisan team would be participating in the exhibition cum fair to showcase the rich handloom and handicraft resources of the state.
Joychandra Konthoujam said that UCM will always stand for Manipuris, who have settled in different parts of the world.
Several Manipuris in different states are still deprived of voting rights and the UCM team would collect information on such issues in order to address those issues by taking them up in the right forum, he added.
