3/3 candidates to contest in Thongju & Thangmeiband A/Cs

As the last date for withdrawal of candidature to the bye-elections of Thongju and Thangmeiband assembly constituencies ended on Saturday, only three candidates in Thongju and another three in Thangmeiband will contest in the November 21 bye-elections.
Out of the four candidates who had filed their nomination for Thongju A/C, independent candidate Okram Ingo withdrew his candidature on Saturday at around 1.15 pm.
Now the three candidates - INC candidate Bijoy Koijam, BJP candidate Thongam Bishwajit and Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) candidate Dr G Tonsana will be in the fray.
In Thangmeiband A/C, three candidates namely INC candidate Jotin Waikhom, BJP candidate Khumukcham Joykishan and MDPF candidate Dr G Tonsana will contest the election.
It may be mentioned that Dr G Tonsana is contesting in both the assembly constituencies.
There will be a total of 45 polling stations in the 5-Thongju A/C and 41 polling stations in Thangmeiband A/C.225 polling personnel will be posted in the Thongju A/C and 205 personnel for Thangmeiband A/C.A total of 430 polling officials have been selected and their training will be held soon, said sources.
Meanwhile, randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) of Thongju A/C, which will be used in the bye-election, will be held on November 9 at Food Processing Training Hall, DIC Porompat while that of Thangmeiband A/C will be held at Returning Officer office, DC, Imphal West Complex, Lamphel.
