Imphal, July 19 2026:
The Singjamei Kendra Apunba Clubs (SKAC) on Sunday staged a sit-in protest at Singjamei Chingamakhong, demanding immediate steps to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Addressing the gathering, SKAC president Konjengbam Chingkham expressed solidarity with those killed in the violence since May 3, 2023, and urged the Government to resettle IDPs in their homes at the earliest and ensure they are not left in relief camps.
The club demanded prompt action against illegal immigrants, update of NRC in Manipur with 1951 as base year, free movement within the State, and opposed any form of community-based politics and separate administration in Manipur.
SKAC also condemned the recent killing of six Naga individuals amid renewed Kuki-Naga tension, and the torching of 5-6 Meitei houses in Kanto Sabal despite Army presence.
It urged the Government to ensure justice.
Placards reading "Act fast to restore peace" and "No separate administration in Manipur" were displayed during the protest.
