Assam Rifles units celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas

Mantripukhri Battalion
of IGAR (South) celebrated
Kargil Vijay Diwas along with a
motivational lecture for young
NCC cadets at Company Operating
Base, Sawombung in
Imphal East district on Tuesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S),
the aim of the event was to
instill sense of nationalism
and pride among the young
generation and inform them
about the gallant sacrifices of
our Kargil War Heroes.
They
were further told about the
virtues of valiant action, selfless
service and extreme patriotism
of the brave-hearts
who made the unparalleled
and invaluable contribution
for the well-being of the
country and countrymen.
A total of 48 NCC cadets attended
the event.
Noney Battalion of 22 Sector
and IGAR (East) also celebrated
"Kargil Vijay Diwas"
at Noney Battlion HQ and
COB Kotlen.
Weapon and equipment
display, Pipe Band and
awareness lecture highlighting
the importance of Vijay
Diwas was organised at Noney
for students of Berean Baptist
Academy, Khumji.
Students
were enlighten on various
ways to join the armed forces
and explained on various
opportunities available at
undergraduate level for joining
the Indian Armed Forces
while Commandant Noney
Battalion gifted sports items
to the school to promote outdoor
sports & physical fitness
among the students.
A total of 60 students and
2 teachers of the Academy
attended the event.
The Battalion also organised
'Kargil Vijay Diwas'
celebration with local students
at COB Kotlen which
was attended by 22 local students
and a teacher of Kotlen
village, Kangpokpi district.
On the other hand, to pay
homage to the fallen heroes of
Kargil War, 44 Assam Rifles of
22 Sector/IGAR (East) organised
befitting wreath laying
at a memorial in Tamenglong
district.
The commandant led
the unit in paying its homage
to fallen national heroes
including five from the state.
To further spread the message
of peace, prosperity and happiness
along with the Indian
Army/Assam Rifles a mobile
Jhanda Yatra (Flag Rally) was
organised by the unit.
The
rally carrying the national
flag traversed through various
roads and by lanes of
the town.
On the occasion, the Battalion
also inaugurated "Veteran
Sadan", a two-bed room
guestroom for Ex Serviceman
of the Tamenglong district.
Keithelmanbi Battalion of
Inspector General Assam Rifles
(South) organised screening
of a motivational movie
for 45 students of ARPS, Keithelmanbi
on the occasion of
Kargil Diwas in Imphal West
district on Tuesday while
Loktak Battalion conducted
lecture on know your armed
forces and Agnipath scheme
on the occasion of Kargil Vijay
Diwas for students and young
locals of Kumbi and Ningthiching
villages in Bishnupur
district on Wednesday.
A total of 76 students and
young locals participated in the event.
