Police asked to prevent violence

Imphal, February 24 2022:
Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) acting chairperson Khaidem Mani on Thursday called on ADGP Clay Khongsai and asked the state police department to take up security measures to prevent and address incidents of violence occurring in connection with the assembly election.
A meeting was held in this regard at Manipur Police Head Quarters between Kh Mani and DGP ADGP Clay Khongsai in the presence of DIG, IG and other police officials.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Kh Mani expressed concern that there have been several incidents of pre-poll violence in the state in last few days with cases of shootings and bomb attacks.
All these incidents are human rights violations.
Hence, he met ADGP Clay Khongsai and other police officials for stopping such violence, he stated.
Kh Mani informed that during the meeting he stressed on the need to maintain law and order and booking of workers of any party and even candidates found involved in such cases.
The state police assured him that they will uphold law and order to their best ability and stop such incidents from happening again, he further mentioned.
