State reports two fatalities, 88 new cases

Imphal, October 16 2021:
The state on Saturday reported two new fatalities and 88 fresh positive cases out of 2010 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 4.38 per cent against 4.32 per cent recorded on Friday.
The two fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East and Ukhrul districts and it took the cumulative number of death cases to 1895.None of the two victims were vaccinated.
Out of the 16 districts, 11 reported Covid cases on Saturday with Imphal West recording highest count at 28 while Chandel, Kamjong and Kangpokpi reported the lowest with one case each.
In terms of daily infection, Kamjong district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 14.3 per cent as one person tested positive out of seven samples examined while Chandel recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.5 per cent.
Jiribam, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati, and Tamenglong had any new positive cases on Saturday.
The active caseload came down to 1422 on Saturday out of which 189 (13.29 per cent) are in home isolation, 461 (32.42 per cent) in CHICs, 467 (32.84 per cent) in CCCs and 305 (21.45 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 77 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 55 are on oxygen support and 22 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 155 patients.
On the other hand, there are three patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Saturday evening, 583 beds including 104 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening 2708 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 420 beds (25 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,233 positive cases and 1521 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2049 new cases and 40 fatalities out of which 780 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 88 new positive cases included 87 people (43 male & 44 female) from among the general population and one serviceman of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (8), JNIMS (15) and other testing centres (65).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (24), Imphal West (27), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (9), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (4), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi (1) and Kamjong (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 108 patients were discharged from home isolation (20), RIMS (9), JNIMS (9) and CCCs (70) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,22,633 (general population - 1,18,322 and CAPF personnel - 4,311) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,19,316 (general population - 1,15,030 and CAPF personnel - 4,286) and number of active cases is 1,422 (general population - 1,402 and CAPF personnel - 20).The recovery rate is 97.30 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 624 D-type and 136 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 5835 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 12,35,197 which include 5,80,283 fully vaccinated persons.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,583), Imphal East (27,120), Thoubal (9411), Churachandpur (10,105), Kangpokpi (2771), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9104), Senapati (2216), Ukhrul (2873), Kakching (6368), Chandel (2310), Noney (1066), Tengnoupal (1051), Jiribam (1020), Kamjong (900) and Pherzawl (463) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (631), Imphal East (447), Thoubal (172), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul 39), Kakching (111), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,521 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,377 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,31,597 tests per million population against the national average of 4,22,077 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2010 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 4.38 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.16 per cent.
