4158 TET forms issued, 678 submitted

Imphal, March 13 2013:
After the Government has issued notification to hold Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Meetei Mayek on April 28, as many as 4158 aspirants have taken the application forms to appear in the test but only 678 of them have submitted their forms so far.
According to information received from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, which is going to conduct the test, TET forms for Meetei Mayek was started issuing from February 27 with March 15 as the last date of issuing application form.
Last date of submission of the forms is March 18 while Admit Cards would be issued till April 18 .
Out of the 4158 forms issued so far, 654 are for general, 406 for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribes and Physically Handicapped and 3096 for OBC.
Pass mark for General candidates would be 60 percent while 50 percent for other categories in accordance to the guidelines of National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) .
Meanwhile, the State Government is yet to approve participation of aspirants who are not eligible for TET but have passed Meetei Mayek Proficiency Test Course.
Even if the government approves their participation in the test, they will not be selected as teachers but would be recruited for other posts, the source maintained.
