HGT campaign: Tricolour hoisted at Indo-Myanmar BP 92

Imphal, August 12 2022: As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga (HGT) campaign, the tricolour was hoisted at the Border Pillar No.92 on the Indo-Myanmar border on Friday.

Located in one of the innermost corners of the state, the said pillar comes under Ashang Khullen village of Kasom Khullen sub-division.

The flag was hoisted by P Duna Duo, SDO/BDO Kasom Khullen, along with his staff in the presence of the village headman and the village authority.

The journey to the border pillar was carried out under the guidance of the DC Kamjong district Rangnamei Rang Peter.

SDO Duna said: "This is one of the eastern most points of our country and I feel it's befitting to fly our national flag at this corner of the vast country to pay respect and tribute to all those freedom fighters who laid their lives for our country and for us" .

In Senapati, deputy commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari informed media persons that almost 22,000 flags have been distributed to all government employees and enthusiast public.

Various activities like mass rally by students, police personnel, ASHA workers, NYK volunteers, anganwadi workers and others will be held from TNK Village gate to Mini Stadium as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Drawing competition will also be organised jointly by Senapati Police and Divisional Forest Office on the theme 'I Dream for Poppy Free Senapati' while Zonal Education Office, Senapati will organise drawing and painting competition commemorating the 75th year of Independence, he added.

The DC further informed that the Independence Day will be celebrated in a grand manner with about 15-20 schools contingents along with police personnel, ASHA and Anganwandi workers participating in the march past.

In Churachandpur, the 1st India Reserve Battalion, HQ Veng organised a bike rally from the battalion headquarters to Khuga Dam to create awareness about the HGT campaign, which was flagged by 1st IRB commandant Lunkhomang Khongsai.

Speaking to the media persons, Lunkhomang informed that the bike rally was organised to raise awareness about the Indian flag and urged the general public to display the national flags in their respective homes from August 13 to 15 to mark India's 75th Independence Day celebration.

About 30 bikers from the 1st IRB participated in the rally.

In the meantime, various DLOs and SDOs of Churachandpur carried out the HGT campaign in their own capacity by distributing national flags to public and painting the walls of their respective office premises.

The HGT campaign also saw other activities such as pasting of HGT logos and stickers on OPD tickets and ambulances by the medical department; painting and slogan writing competitions, prabhat pheris, quiz and singing competitions by ZEO; painting of walls in town by CEO ADCC; and decorating the Mini-Secretariat with tricolour by MSPDCL among others.

Also, as a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign, students of various schools under ZEO Churachandpur took a pledge for a drug free country as DLOs who attended Friday's review meeting on HGT and Independence D ay chaired by deputy commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju at Mini-Secretariat took the Nasha Mukt pledge.

In Noney district, national flags have been handed out at a rate of Rs 10-15 through district level officers and village authority leaders at the DC office.

As a part of the HGT campaign, the students of Sharon English High School, Longmai Bazar took out a rally holding the tricolour through the Longmai Bazar before returning to their school campus.

The rally was organised under the supervision of Badan Thaimei, ZEO Noney, to encourage the people of the district to hoist the national flags atop their houses from August 13.In Thoubal district the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign continued with various programmes being held across the district.

More than 40,000 flags have been distributed so far by the district administration.

Zonal Education Officer Zone III, Thoubal on Friday organised a debating competition at Khangabok Higher Secondary School as part of the campaign.

Various government departments and institutions in the district have started hoisting the national flags in their buildings/premises.

Flags were distributed to 200 Self Help Group members of Thoubal Municipal Council.

The flags were also hoisted at offices of District Treasury, District Transport, Yairipok Municipal Council, General Manager District Industries Centre, District Horticulture & Soil Conservation, EE PHE Division and Chief Medical Officer.
