JNIMS authority is taking up various initiatives to improve quality of patient care service at the state owned medical institute, said JNIMS director professor L Deben.
Addressing a press meet on Thursday, professor Deben said that the hospital authority under the supervision of JNIMS Society president chief minister N Biren is taking up various initiatives to improve the quality of patient care service.
At present, one MRI machine, two CT scan machines, three x-ray machines and four out of six ultrasound machines are functioning.
Apart from these machineries, the institute is in the process of installing state of the art machineries in different departments, he said.
He revealed that the institute has got approval for kidney transplantation and all processes for making it functional are in the final stage.
Construction of a separate cancer hospital as part Of JNIMS will begin soon in consultation with a Japanese firm.
Though the government had recently announced changes in office hours, the hospital is providing 24/7 service to the public, he said.
On the media report regarding the condition of PSA Oxygen plant, which was installed in January 2014 at a cost of Rs 1.11 crore, he said that the report is true.
The plant was approved by the Congress government but the suppliers provided sub-standard materials and it resulted in its failure.
The plant functioned for seven or eight months but the purity level was low and experts did not recommend the oxygen for medical purpose.
Consequently, the plant became defunct.
The oxygen plant is not related with the present government and JNIMS authority.
However, the government has started re-modification and repairing of the said plant to make it operational.
At present, one LMO and three PSA oxygen plants are producing the required oxygen for the hospital, he said.
