RIMS, JCI, others observe World Health Day

As elsewhere, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) observed World Health Day on the theme 'Our Planet, Our Health' at its jubilee hall on Thursday, along with conducting essay and painting competitions.
In his speech as chief guest of the event, RIMS director Prof A Santa informed that mass tree plantation campaigns will continue in the campus of the institute.
Conducting essay and painting competitions for students based on the theme of the observance is a good step as it will help instill positive vibes of the theme in the minds of students, he remarked.
Presided over by RIMS Dean (Academic) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, the observance was also attended by Nodal Officer Prof Y Govindaraj Singh as guest of honour.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the essay and painting competitions, followed by a tree plantation drive in the campus.
A social service camp was also carried out at the premises of postgraduate and undergraduate hostels of the institute.
Junior Chamber International (JCI), Imphal Iconics in association with JNIMS also organised a one-day health and dental camp at Dharamsala, Thangal Bazar here on Thursday in connection with the World Health Day observance.
Speaking on the sidelines, JCI, Imphal Iconics president JC Nidhi informed that the camp was organised with the aim of provide healthcare to families in the market area who do not have the financial means for the same.
JCI, Imphal Iconics chairperson Dr Sophia Khumukcham said the camp was held with the objective of treating and preventing illnesses; while physician Dr PK Jain lauded the efforts taken up by JCI, Imphal Iconics.
Meanwhile, in connection with World Health Day, Reckitt in collaboration with The Birds and Bees Talk (TBBT) programme of Durex India observed World Health Day in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim on Thursday.
Based on the five principles of awareness, consent, protection, equity and inclusion, a workshop on the theme of 'What you do for a healthier tomorrow was also organised.
Several competitions such as painting, extempore, dance, skits and others were organised as part of World Health Day observance as well.
Manipur State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, Imphal East under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority organised a friendly football match in connection with World Health Day observance at Play7 Turf Ground, Mayaikoibi on Thursday.
District and Sessions Judge cum DLSA Imphal East chairman RK Memcha inaugurated the football match, which was played between teams of judicial officers and staff members under DSLA Imphal East as well as MSLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum arid additional member secretary Sadananda Sorokhaibam.
