Gold bars worth Rs 1.55 crore seized

Imphal, April 07 2022:
A team of Kakching commandos arrested a 25 year old man along with 18 gold bars weighing 2.988 kg and worth around Rs 1.55 crore from Pallel police check post today at around 10.30 am.
Briefing media persons at his office chamber today, Kakching SP Shrey Vats stated that the person arrested with the gold bars has been identified as Prakash Kshetri, s/o Ratan Kshetri of Moreh Ward No 8 Moreh.
Saying that the Kakching commandos detained one Eeco Van during a routine frisking and checking drive at the police outpost and found the gold bars concealed beneath the step of the left door, the SP informed each gold bar weigh around 166 gram and was packed in plastic with a white sticker pasted on it.

On the bottom of the bar, three small "w" letters and one large 'W" letter is carved along with a five petal flower symbol while a letter is "W" carved is at the top.
The SP further stated that investigation is underway to find how he got the gold and where he was planning to take it.
The arrested person will be handed over to the Customs Department along with the seized materials, he added.
The frisking and checking drive was led by Subedar Ksh Prakash of Commando Unit Kakching under the command of Inspector Md Abash Khan and overall supervision of the district SP .
