State trio held with drugs in Assam

Imphal, April 07 2022:
In an operation against drug syndicate, officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 807.18 grams of heroin found concealed inside 65 soap cases in Guwahati and three individuals have been arrested in this connection on Tuesday.
The value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 5.65 crore in the international market.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Laki Amir (24), Mohammad Ragqibuddin (30) both residents of Lilong, and Mohammed Taslim Ahamad (34) of Thoubal Kiyam Litanpok, Moijing.
As per the identity card of Md Taslim Ahamad, he is a constable posted at CID (Security) Office of Manipur Police.
The arrested individuals have been booked under relevant provisions of NDPS Act 1985 and are presently in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Moreh Battalion of IGAR (South) in a joint operation with Moreh Police foiled cross border smuggling of narcotics in Moreh on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that based on specific input, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Moreh Police intercepted a Tata Sumo at Police Check Post.
On thorough search of the vehicle 684 grams of narcotics worth Rs 1.44 crore in 60 soap cases were recovered.
The recovered items along with the drug peddlers have been handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
