3 held with drugs at Guwahati

Imphal, April 07 2022:
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Guwahati Zonal Unit arrested three Manipuris including one police Constable along with 801.18 gram of heroin from Guwahati on April 5 .
According to a press release issued by DRI, Guwahati Zonal Unit, the seized drug is worth around Rs 5.65 crore in the international market.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md Laki Amir (24), Md Raqibuddin, both residents of Lilong and Md Taslim Ahamad (34) of Thoubal Kiyam Litanpok, Moijing.
As per the identity card of Md Taslim, he is a Constable in the CID (Security) Office of the Manipur Police, it said.
All the arrested persons have been booked under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act 1985 and are currently in judicial custody, it added.
The State police too have been seizing a huge consignment of drugs since the past many days with the notable one being the seizure of brown sugar worth Rs 14 crore from Tengnoupal on April 5 and 6 .
