Bandh underway, vehicles stranded

Noney, July 26 2022:
Due to the 48-hour bandh imposed since 6 pm Monday along the Old Cachar Road (Tongjei Maril Road), also known as Bishnupur-Khoupum-Reangpang Road, all types of vehicles were off the road along the said route.
The bandh was called jointly by Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) and National Highway Surveillance Committee (NHSC) in protest against the government's failure to repair the road even after
their ultimatum.
Due to the bandh, many vehicles were stranded in many locations.
Meanwhile, a joint meeting between the leaders of the bandh supporters and the government officials was held at the SDO office
complex at Khoupum on Tuesday.
However, there was no agreement reached or any concrete decision taken during the meeting.
In the meeting, the government was represented by N Subhas, additional chief engineer PWD, Ch Bishorchandra, SE PWD, N Khelemba Meitei, EE PWD, James Panii, SDO Khoupum, P Kirankumar Singh, additional SP Noney, and JS Thangal, OC Khoupum PS.
According to a reliable source, there will be another
round of meeting on Wednesday at Imphal with the works minister and the leaders of the civil organisations to resolve the issue.
