BJP Wangkhem Mandal organised the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate in Wangkhem A/C Yumnam Nabachandra at his Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi residence on Thursday followed by a public meeting at USDA playground, Haokha Mamang Leikai.
Speaking at the meeting, chief minister N Biren highlighted that the BJP government brought peace and stability in the state subsequent to the top priority given towards building a healthy relationship between government and people and public and police.
Keeping women and children safe and secure is also the goal and objective of the government, he said.
As electing the wrong representatives in the last 20-30 years was the primary reason for people of the state having to live under constant fear, casting vote to the right candidate is a must to ensure peace and development, Biren conveyed.
Questioning why there is dearth of potable water, poor road condition and other inadequacies in Wangkhem constituency despite having an elected Congress MLA for the last 15 years, he also stressed that the election manifesto of BJP is aimed at overall improvement of the state.
In his address, minister Biswajit asserted frequent bandhs and blockades, shortage of cooking gas, electricity and potable water during the Congress rule made the people to suffer various hardships.
While assuring of taking up development based on the wishes of the people if he wins the election, Yumnam Nabachandra alleged that the sitting MLA is conducting election campaign based on the idea of discrimination.
The meeting was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, Thoubal District president Yumnam Kumarjit, Wangkhem Mandal executives, artiste Sougrakpam Hemanta and film actor RK Somendro (Kaiku) among others.
