Abducted from Sekmai, found dead at Motbung

Imphal, May 12 2013:
Truck driver Kumut Ali, who was found dead along the bank of Imphal River at Motbung, was reportedly abducted from MM Hotel in Sekmai by three unknown persons.
The truck loaded with packed potato chips (Uncle Chips), which had also been taken by the unknown abductors still remains untraceable.
The deceased driver was from Sonitpur district in Assam.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Zakir Hussain, the handyman of the truck informed that he and driver Kumut Ali left Guwahati for Imphal on May 7.On May 9, they reached Sekmai and had their lunch at MM Hotel.
While they were having their food, three unidentified persons, who were already there in the hotel, approached them and took away Kumut Ali saying they need to talk to him.
After an hour, one of the three unknown persons, who had left with Kumut Ali, came back and told him (Zakir Hussain) to escape before the other two returned as they would be causing trouble to him as well.
Zakir Hussain trusted him and set off with him in the truck to a place which the other person said was in Ukhrul.
They spent the night in a Muslim village and sent him back with a ticket for Dimapur telling him that Kumut Ali had left for Dimapur along with a woman.
However, when Zakir Hussain reached Dimapur, he could not find Kumut Ali and so he came back to Manipur to trace him at his place.
But Kumut Ali was not at his place too.
When news report of an unknown man found dead along the bank of Imphal River at Motbung came, it turned out to that of Kumut Ali.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Road Transport and Driver and Workers Union has condemned the killing of driver Kumut Ali.
Interacting with Hueiyen Lanpao, H Kullamani, General Secretary, stated that the culprits involved in the heinous crime should be apprehended by the police and given befitting punishment.
