Central observers to decide Govt formation: Biren

Caretaker chief minister N Biren has said that even though BJP is preparing to form the next government of the state, it will take place only after the arrival of central observers and the exact date of government formation will be known after the swearing in ceremony of the MLA elects.
Responding to the media after a review meeting along with BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, BJP candidates, who lost the elections, and Mandal presidents at Thambal Shanglen here on Sunday, Biren conveyed that the meeting discussed the reason for the defeat of BJP candidates in the remaining 28 seats and how incidents of booth capture took place in different areas including those in SoO group strongholds.
The reports will be sent to the central leaders, he said and added that the meeting, which began from 11 am, continued till 6.30 pm.
Regarding the formation of the new government, Biren said that BJP will stake claim to form the government only after the arrival of the party's central observers.
It may be on March 16 or after Yaoshang festival and the exact date may be decided after the swearing in ceremony of the MLA elects, he said.
Sharda said that the meeting was held to find out the reason for the party's defeat in the 28 assembly constituencies and to encourage the losing candidates to start preparation for the next elections.
The meeting was held following instruction from central leaders, she said.
Sharda also said that she does not know when the party's central observers will arrive in Imphal but the legislative party leader will be decided after their arrival and then BJP will stake claim to form the government.
