'Make in Manipur' to be promoted through Sangai Beauty Pageant

Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Commissioner of Commerce and Industries of Government of Manipur on Saturday met Northeast students communities at the conference hall of Manipur Bhawan at Sardar Patel Marg to discuss about the employment generation potential in textiles sector of handloom, handicrafts and sericulture, promotion of local products and fabrics by organizing beauty pageant and participation of the youths in taking up entrepreneurial activities on "Make in India-Make in North East-Make in Manipur" for employment generation.
He stated that Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur under the aegis of the Exhibition Committee of Sangai Festival had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Miss India Organizer on October 31 this year to organize Sangai Princess on November 17, 2015 on Manipur Day of India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi as a precursor of Sangai Queen and Campus Princess for Miss India North East in Imphal on November 27 and 28, 2015 during Sangai Festival.
He said, "The contestants for Sangai Princess shall be residents of National Capital Region having domiciles of North Eastern States .There is no height restrictions.
Non-college, married, widowed, single, unmarried and everyone whose age is less than 25 years can participate in the beauty pageant.
Top finalists will get direct entry into Sangai Queen in Imphal".
Last date of submission of online application is on November 14, 2015 which is available at www.scimanipur.gov.in,www.highereducationmanipur.gov.in and www.manipuruniv.ac.in.
He said that grooming and screening will take place at India International Youth Centre at Chanakyapuri on November 15 to 16 followed by fashion show at 6pm at Hamsadhwani Theatre at IITF, Pragati maidan on November 17, 2015.Spice Production House will do the grooming and screening as well as judge the contestants with the celebrities- Rakshitha Harimurthy Miss India 2015 Top 10 finalist, Rewati Chetri Miss India 2015 Top 10 finalist, Anchal Jain Fashion Model Miss India Diva Delhi, JayantaRay Talent partner for Miss India, NE Kolkata, Dipankar Kashyap, choreographer and Chowpuran Gogoi, Fashion Stylist.
He further stated, "Sangai Queen contest will be held on November 27 at Imphal in Manipur during annual international Sangai Festival for contestants domiciles from North Eastern States residing anywhere in India.
Winners will get entry into Bollywood Glamour World and Music Album.
Dress Code will be Black or Red colour Cocktail Dress and Stilettos.
There will be an entry fee of Rs.3,000/- per Contestant." Grooming and Screening for Sangai Queen will be held at State Academy of Training, Takyelpat of Hotel Classic Grande from November 22 to 25.Stephanie Lohale Miss India Worldwide 2015, Supriya Aiman Miss India International 2015, Sachin Gupta, Music Director, Bosco Caesar Choreographer, Shie Lobo Stylist and Deepak Ramrakhiani, National Director Miss India Worldwide will take in the grooming and screening of the contestants of Sangai Queen, he added.
Campus Princess for Miss India North East will be organized by Bennett Coleman & Company Ltd-owner of Times of India Group and Femina Miss India.
Winners will get direct entry into Femina Miss India 2016 to be held in Mumbai.
All contestants of Sangai Princess and Sangai Queen whose height is more than 5'5'' shall get entry into Campus Princess for Miss India North East at Imphal on November 28, 2015.Koyal Rana, Miss India World 2014 and Bennett Nathan are among celebrity judges" .
Commerce and Industries Commissioner Dewangan also expressed that Manipur was having one of the highest density of handloom, handicrafts and Sericulture weavers in the country and Manipur government stepped into the promotion of local products and local fabric by showcasing its potential in product diversification as well as developing marketing linkages using e-commerce platform.
