MSLSA organises online refresher course

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) in collaboration with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee, Supreme Court of India began India's first 20 hours online refresher course on mediation from today.
The refresher course will be held for five days, viz, 1 st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th of October 2G20 and will be conducted through the Cisco Webex platform, said a statement of MSLSA.
It also stated that altogether 21 trained advocate mediators from all over Manipur will be availing the benefits of this refresher course.
After Mezivolu T Therieh, member secretary, MCPC welcomed the participants, Justice Kh Nobin Singh, executive chairman, MSLSA inaugurated the programme and highlighted the importance of mediation in resolving disputes for a State like Manipur.
Satish Kumar Arora, member secretary, MCPC gave the vote of thanks for this inaugural function.
Three senior trainers from Delhi namely, Jaya Goyal, Sh KK Mukhija and Pusshp Gupta will be conducting the said programme along with Monika Jalota and Sh Deepak Kr Dhingra (Punjab and Haryana) during these five days; which will be held online.
Mediation or some variation of it, as a mechanism of resolving disputes, was pre-existing in Manipur and pre-dates the present legal system.
Glimpses of it still can be seen when the locality members try to resolve certain disputes of their locality by mutual agreement and amicably, it added.
The statement added that mediation as a means of resolving disputes has garnered huge traction in recent times, with people opting to resolve their disputes (cases pending in Courts as well as pre-litigation matters) amicably, here in Manipur.
Manipur State Legal Services Authority expressed its heartfelt gratitude to MCPC and all the experienced trainers for their prompt response and readiness in organizing this programme.
