Imphal, March 30 2014:
MLA of Heingang A/C N Biren has filed a complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for allegedly violating the election model of conduct by making communal statements during his poll campaigns in the State.
MLA Biren filed the complaint to the ECI online and even raised the matter to the General Observer of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Vikash Anand.
Speaking at a meeting of Heingang Block Congress Committee held at his residence at Luwangsangbam here today, Congress MLA Biren said that the NPF leader and Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio had made false allegations against Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and the State Government during his election campaigns in the State.
Rio even incited hatred among the people of the State by violating the election model code of conduct.
The ECI has been urged to take appropriate action against the Nagaland CM and the NPF which has included "integration of all Naga-inhabited areas" in its election manifesto, he averred.
Biren further said that the ensuing 16th Lok Sabha election is a crucial election and it cannot be taken lightly.
It would be good for all if the Congress Party retains power at the Centre.
The country would be in chaos if Narendra Modi-led BJP forms the Government.
The stability and welfare of the country lies only with the Congress Party, he added.
