Hengbung KVK gets new Emu hatchery unit

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Saturday inaugurated a hatchery unit having the capacity to rear emu chicks at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Silvan Campus, Hengbung, Senapati district.
The hatchery unit has been constructed by ICAR and Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS) with the support of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology and the inaugural function was attended by Commerce and Industries/Veterinary & Husbandry minister K Govindas, Superintendent of Police, Senapati, Pushpanjali, FEEDS president Haokholet Kipgen and Senapati ADM, D Gangmei.
While speaking at the occasion, Gaikhangam resolutely stated that National Highways in Manipur are the "lifeline" of the people but elements like lawbreakers and evil people have made them a source of income by indulging in unlawful activities.

"Such activities have harmed the Government as it loses about Rs 800 crore every year to be collected as revenue," he lamented.
He said Manipur is now stood at the top among the other states of the country which is notorious for tax evasion the country terming it as unfortunate.
Gaikhanagm further stated that the people must pay tax for all services and build up the habit of money saving to earn welfare.
The Government could collect more than Rs 1000 crore as revenue of the state per year if tax evasion is avoided and worked with utmost sincerity.
The Deputy Chief Minister later visited the Centre for Orchid Gene Conservation of Eastern Himalayan Region, Research and Development Laboratory and also planted a sapling at the KBK campus.
