Chief Justice visits Ukhrul

Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Abhay Manohar Sapre, was given a rousing welcome today at Multi-purpose Hall, here.
AM Sapre, accompanied by his better half S Lisa; Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah; Dy Secretary (Law) Nungshitombi; Registrar of Manipur HC S Serto; Judge of the HC Manoj Kumar; Alex Muivah, Principal Secy; engineers Hemanta and Krish-na Kumar Sharma; and Sr Architect CJM Pemmila along with the DLOs visited select sites for setting up of district Court and inspected the allotted court office at Mini Secre- tariat.
The Chief Justice and his team visited three proposed sites in the district headquarters including the Old SDO office, Ukhrul, Old Jail complex at Hongva and Hungpung village.
After a thorough inspection, the team has apparently a solid decision of setting up the Court at the Old Jail complex, which is located three kilometres away from heart of the town.
The Chief Justice also inspected the present Court campus of Ukhrul and asked for immediate renovation of the Court.
The District Lawyers' association has also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice urging for immediate establishment of district Court.
Cultural items were schowcased during the reception programme.
