BJP Jiribam Mandal holds organisational meeting, calls for peace and stability

Jiribam, August 04 2026:
An organisational meeting of the BJP Jiribam Mandal was held at the Jiribam Municipal Council Auditorium Hall, Babupara, Jiribam, today, with representatives from various ethnic communities participating and calling for collective efforts to restore peace and stability in Manipur.
The meeting was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jiribam Mandal, and attended by BJP Imphal West district president Phandom Phoni Meitei, former BJP candidate from Jiribam AC N Budhachandra Singh, BJP general secretary Premananda Meitei, Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) chairperson S Santi Devi and BJP Jiribam Mandal president Tahemang Panmei, besides representatives of various communities.
During the meeting, participants shared their views and stressed the need for concerted efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the State amid the ongoing crisis.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP general secretary Premananda Meitei said the meeting, which brought together representatives of different communities in Jiribam, was significant in the backdrop of the ethnic violence that erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023 .
He said a five-day peace mission undertaken by road covered several areas, including Noney, Nungba and Kaimai, where the team interacted with villagers before meeting internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jiribam.
Premananda said the initiative was undertaken under the leadership of BJP president A Sharda Devi and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand.
He added that the Chief Minister's visits to Jiribam on two occasions as part of efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the State had also contributed to the ongoing peace initiatives.
