No let up in drug seizure

Stepping up their drive against the menace of drug smuggling, Thoubal District Police Commandos have yet again seized huge consignment of drugs (SP and Heroin) from Lilong and Pallel areas.
Talking to media persons in this regard, OC of Lilong Police Station Md Hussain informed that the consignment of SP capsules was seized by a team of Commando unit led by Havildar Md Firoz Khan.
The commando unit is attached to the Lilong PS.
He further informed that on receiving specific information, the commando team carried out frisking and checking along Lilong bazaar in Masjid road yesterday.
The team saw a steel colour Honda City car (MN04A-5623) approaching them.
When they stopped the car and checked it, SP capsules wrapped in 15 different packets were found inside a box in the car.
There were altogether 4320 pieces of SP capsules in the box.
Along with seizure of the SP capsules and the car, the driver has also been arrested.
The arrested person has been identified as Md Sahabuddin alias Abo (34), s/o Md Nezamuddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong.
The seized drugs would fetch around Rs 50,000 in the local market, the OC disclosed.
Meanwhile, two women, who were found carrying 140 grams of Heroin, locally known as 'number 4' have been arrested by another team of Thoubal District Police Commandos led by SI Dhanabir today.
On receiving specific information, the commando team intercepted a van (AS01-AR 8399) which was coming from Moreh for checking near Pallel Police outpost.
As the van was occupied by two ladies, women police were immediately called in to do the frisking and found three packets of Heroin wrapped around their thighs with the help of a belt.
The value seized heroin is said to be around Rs 10 lakhs in the international market.
The arrested women have been identified as Nongthongbam ongbi Mema (35), d/o Ibopishak of Toubungkhok and Lubuwannanlu Panmei (32), w/o Longjam Ingocha of Yairipok Kekru Mathak Leikai.
