Imphal, August 04 2026:
The Federal Students' Organisation Kangleipak (FESOK) on Tuesday distributed textbooks to students of Hope International Institute, Kanto Sabal, who were displaced by the ongoing conflict in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, North Indigenous Women Organisation secretary Ruth Thiumai expressed gratitude to FESOK.
She said the school was earlier located at Leimakhong Chingmang but after the violence of May 13 by people from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki villages targeting Konsakhul village, the students fled in vehicles, leaving behind school uniforms and books.
She added that as it is still not safe to return, the school is now being run in rented rooms at Kanto Sabal with around 20 students.
She said FESOK's support for the students was deeply appreciated.
FESOK president Kangujam Amarjit said the books were provided to ensure displaced students do not drop out of studies.
He urged for continued efforts to protect education and called on students to study hard to build a better society.
