Part Time Lecturers thank CM, Education Minister

College Part Time Lecturers have thanked Chief Minister O Ibobi and Education Minister M Okendra for enhancing their salary to the scale of the 6th Pay Commission.
In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, Government College Part Time Lecturers' Association, Manipur President L Gojendra said, the association extends sincere gratitude for upgrading the scale of salary to 6th Pay Commission by the Education Minister under the directive of the Chief Minister.
Saying that O Ibobi has brought many positive changes to the education sector during his Chief Ministership, L Gojendro said that setting up of MIT and NIT, upgrading of Manipur University to the status of a Central University and JN Hospital to a medical college etc can be mentioned.
He also said that M Okendra has also brought many changes like preparation of Manipur Education Service Rule, opening of Manipur Language Directorate, revising of College Lecturers salary to the 6th Pay UGC scale and extension of teachers' retirement age to 65 years etc.
Saying that the revised pay scales for College Part Time Lecturers and Contract teachers of Higher Secondary schools are fixed at Rs 12,600 and Rs 13,700 per month respectively, L Gojendro urged the Chief Minister, Education Minister and authority concerned to fix the salary for Part Time College Lecturers at par with Contract Higher Secondary school teachers.
