Imphal, September 26 2014 :
RIMS issue begins to surface within the BJP ranks, as former party spokesperson Chongtham Bijoy charging Th.Chaoba as double standard.
In a meeting with selected newsmen at his residence at Lamphel here today, former spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh Chongtham Bijoy Singh said that BJP members who are against Th.Chaoba expressed joy at the removal of former RIMS Director Dr.Sekhorjit on August 28 last.
They claimed the exit of Dr.Sekhorjit was due to their memorandum submitted to the central government on the matter.
President Chaoba was silent on the matter for 7 days after publication of the news, maintained Bijoy while informing the newsmen that a letter from Dr.Shekhorjit's wife Damayanti reached the BJP office on Sept.
4 last.
On receipt of the letter, Th.Chaoba convened an emergency meeting, alleged the former spokesperson, while asking the motive of BJP president for convening the meeting.
Although the copy letter of the was shown to party workers, Chaoba convinced them that it was a legal notice.
Chongtham Bijoy continued asking why the party president was alarmed over the letter.
After circulating the copies of the letter from Dr.Damayanti among the media persons, Bijoy pointed out that the president resorted to suspension of important party members for celebrating the ouster of Dr.Sekhorjit.
If Th.Chaoba remains as the head of state BJP, the fate of the party in Manipur is dim, warned the former spokesperson, while foretelling that there may be none to serve in the party, or the BJP may be in desperation just like the Congress.
Strongly denouncing the activities of Th.Chaoba, Bijoy claimed that the party president has been acting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice against tall-talk, corruption and anti-people acts.
Blaming Chaoba of trying to destroy the party, Bijoy asserted that Chaoba has dispatched legal notice demanding Rs.50 crore as defamation suit to the Statesman and the Hueiyen Lanpao dailies for publication of a report.
Even though the same news was published in other newspapers, Chaoba acted with prejudice against the said newspapers, Bijoy lamented.
Appealing to President Th.Chaoba, Chongtham Bijoy told newsmen that he should resign from the post of party president.
Meanwhile, as this paper could not contact the two parties regarding the letter allegedly written by Dr.Sekhorjit's wife Damayanti to BJP President Th.Chaoba, their versions cannot be produced here.
