People yet to get RTE facilities: Pradipkumar

Even after the implementation of Right to Education (RTE) in Manipur, the people have not been entitled of the full benefits of the Act, stated K.Pradipkumar, convener of Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR) while speaking at the one-day state level consultation on the status of Integrated Child Policy Scheme (ICPS)/Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) organized by the MACR at Manipur Press Club, Imphal here today.
Giving the keynote address, Pradipkumar stated that the people of the state, both in the valley and the hills have not attained full benefits of RTE even after years of its implementation due to various reasons.
According to surveys conducted by MACR at Chandel and Churachandpur districts in the state, as much as 223 children below 18 years of age in 16 villages of Chandel district were found studying in other places due to the lack of learning infrastructures in the district.
Again, after the survey at 11 villages of Churachandpur district, around 140 children below 18 years were recorded as studying outside the district due to lack of facilities.
Meanwhile, Mala Lisam, programme officer, Integrated Child Policy Scheme (ICPS), department of Social Welfare dwelt on the provisions given under ICDS and its delivery mechanism at the function.
Moreover,Tabitha Shimray, CDPO, Kamjong also stressed on the role of anganwadi worker and community for the effective implementation.
.LPishak, secretary, NLF on the other hand, spoke about ECCE and its challenges in the context of Manipur.
During the consultation programme, several issues including role and responsibilities, working experience, gaps and challenges of different stake holders of ICPS and ECCE were also discussed for bringing convergence, better synergy in order to deliver justice to children.
