Moreh strike deferred

Moreh, June 02 2014:
Following partial assurance from the BRTF authority, the agitating Labourers' Union 82 RCC Moreh Platoon has decided to defer its proposed general strike on the Moreh-Imphal section of National Highway to June 7.The strike would be enforced from June 7 unless all the points raised by the Labourers' Union are fulfilled within the stipulated date.
A joint meeting of the Moreh Chiefs' Association, leaders of ACODOM, HTC, Officials of 25 BRTF and members of the Labourers' Union was held today at C Molhoi village.
The BRTF officials assured to fulfil eight of the nine-point demands raised by the Labourers' Union.
The Chiefs' Association proposed to have direct discussion with the CO of the BRTF on the point which the officials could not give their assurance today.
Leaders of ACODOM and HTC appealed the BRTF officials to end the impasse at the earliest so that the pending works resume at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that the Union has been on ceasework strike since April 1 in pursuit of various demands including transfer of RB Chaubey, the Officer in-charge of 25th BRTF 82-RCC Moreh Platoon, holding the officer responsible for the current agitation.
Besides cessation of various construction activities in the border area, suspected agitation supporters had plunged a BRTF truck into a river on April 19 .
