Imphal, June 02 2014: A joint meeting of various Muslim organisations of the State was held today at Hatta against the backdrop of alleged circulation of biased and fabricated historiography of Manipuri Muslims and their origin by some organisations.

While taking serious note of the false historicity on Manipuri Muslims' origin, the meeting jointly convened by All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC), All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) and United Manipuri Muslim Women Development Organisation (UMMWDO) condemned the alleged fabricated, fallacious and misleading press statements issued by different organisations, according to a press statement.

The meeting also resolved to publish a statement about the true origin and history of the Manipuri Muslims in local papers.

The Muslim bodies' meeting further decided to appeal all concerned organisations of the State to intervene and reprimand the organisations which are responsible for hurting the sentiments of the Manipuri Muslims.

It also appealed concerned organisations and intellectuals to publish the true history of Manipuri Muslims based on books in order to counter the fabricated informations which could also serve as a reference for academic use.

It further appealed to all media houses of the State to verify misleading statements before publishing such things as news items as it has the potential to disturb communal harmony and integrity.

Appealing to all concerned to repose faith on law of the land and settle matter through law court, the meeting also appealed to all concerned organisations to stop using derogatory and disparaging phrases on the whole Muslim community in any issue when the actual issue is related to something else.

The meeting was attended by representatives of All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation, United Manipuri Muslim Women Development Organisation, Manipuri Muslim Online Forum, Pangal Students' Organisation, Popular Front of India (Manipur), Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation, All India Muslim Majalis-e-Mushawarat, NE, Muslim Council Manipur, Minority Development Forum, Manipur, All Manipur Muslim Youth and Cultural Organisation, AMU Alumni Association of Manipuri Muslims, Muslim Students' Union Manipur and Manipur State Minority Development Organisation.
