Imphal, December 19 2013:
Implementation of 2nd phase of the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for 2011-12 has been stalled in respect of Thoubal district due to alleged indifferent attitude of the State Bank of India (SBI) leaving many beneficiaries baffled.
A total of 26 beneficiaries have been selected by the District Level Task Force Committee for the 2nd phase of PMEGP 2011-12 in Thoubal district.
The lists of the selected beneficiaries were sent to the Branch Manager of SBI Thoubal Branch with the instruction to do the needful.
The beneficiaries did not receive any positive response when they approached the Branch Manager and enquired the matter.
The frustrated beneficiaries have submitted memorandums to the Chief Minister, Regional Business Officer of SBI Imphal and the DC of Thoubal though no positive response has been coming forth so far.
Interview for selection of beneficiaries for 2013-14 was completed on November 28 .
The selected lists of beneficiaries for 2012-13 were sent to respective branches of nationalised banks in Thoubal like SBI, HDFC and UBI by the District Task Force Committee.
As no response from the banks has been coming forth, the target for the year is likely to fail.
There is also apprehension among the candidates that they would miss another chance of facing the interview as they are still in the dark whether their bank loan applications are rejected.
The concerned beneficiaries have urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter.
