Agri training begins

A three-day State level training programme on 'Agriculture Extension Management' began today at the conference hall of Directorate of Agriculture with Commissioner (Agri) Rajesh Agrawal and Director (Agri) G Shamu Kabui gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
The training programme organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Sameti) is being held with Sameti Director M Gojendra Singh and Sameti's Deputy Director (HRD) S Kenedy Singh as the course director and course coordinator respectively.
Urging department personnel participating in the training programme to share their experience with farmers at their respective area of concern, Rajesh Agrawal reminded that healthy working relationship and cooperation between the agricultural officials and the farmers are essential factors for development in the agricultural sector.
Noting that equal emphasis on development of fishery, horticulture and sericulture sector would bring positive changes in the State's economy, the Commission also suggested that instead of cash payment assistance to farmers should be through issuance of cheques.
During the technical session, resource persons deliberated on 'management - meaning/concept, importance in agriculture extension', 'leadership in agriculture extension', 'motivational strategy in agriculture extension' and 'delegation and empowerment' .
