Thasana dreams of Olympics medal

International weightlifter Sagolsem Thasana Chanu, who has all nurturing her dream of winning a medal in the Olympics Games, has stated that the government needs to help the weightlifters in overcoming the problems faced by them.
Thasana started her career as lifter in 2009.Since then, she has been a player of SAI.
She has brought many laurels to the State by winning numerous medals at various national and international championships.
In 2011, Thasana won a bronze medal in the 7th National Youth (Boys and Girls) Weightlifting Championship in 58 kg category.
She again fetched a silver medal in 2012 in the 8th National Youth (Boys & Girls) Weightlifting Championship held at Delhi under 58 kg categories.
After that, Thasana won a bronze medal in the 15th Youth (Boys & Girls) Asian Weightlifting Championship in under 58 kg.
Moreover, she won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Senior, Junior, Youth Championship held at Malaysia in under 63 kg category section.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Thasana said that she has been dedicating herself in pursuit of her game all alone and nurturing the dream of winning an Olympics medal.
But the government has not given any help not to talk about recognizing her even after winning various medals at the National and international level.
She pointed out besides playing, weightlifters need to have good diet.
Any player who lacks such diets cannot perform well in any competition.
One has to invest huge amount of money on providing food supplements to gain more energy for practice as well as for performing well in any contest.
Apart from dieting, participating in various different camps also require money for moving from one place to another if the player has to succeed in his or her life.
So, it would be some help to poor players like her if the government could provide some financial assistance.
Father of Thasana, who is also a farmer in profession, said that he has been trying his level best for the success of his daughter's career.
But, sometimes, he feels that career of his daughter may be in vain due to poverty in the family.
In such a condition, the poor father hoped that the government would do at least something in this regard.
