Imphal, December 19 2013:
Two labourers have been reportedly kidnapped from Saikul area of Senapati district by Kuki militants and some Kuki civil bodies have warned of agitating against the abduction of the labourers.
Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KOSG) and Kuki Student Organisation (KSO) Saikul said they are very much concerned about the kidnapping of Sanasam Tomba (44) and Amon Doren (36) from a work site near Twichamphai village, Saikul Block on December 10 by suspected Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact.
The two abducted persons were working as labourers for construction of Ekou-Saparmaina road.
"The abduction of innocent labourers just for money or ransom is against humanitarian laws.
Any kind of misunderstanding or confusion can be sorted out through talks and negotiations.
Kidnappings, abductions or violent activities will never bring solutions to any problems," the Kuki bodies said.
KISG and KSO said it is also a matter of serious concern that disruptions have been created on the developmental works in Saikul assembly constituency due to frequent kidnappings and abductions.
Development works are for the people.
The disruption of the developmental works is against the wish and welfare of the people.
The KISG and KSO, therefore, appealed to the group concerned for the safe and early release of the abducted labourers on humanitarian ground and in the interest of development, progress and in Saikul Sub-Division.
"If this public interest appeal is not heeded, then we may be compelled to resort to various forms of agitation for the safe release of the abducted innocent labourers," the Kuki bodies warned.
