Will take up necessary steps to improve the economy of the State : Biren

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the State Government would try its best to improve the economic conditions and the standard of living of all the households in the State .
He made the statement as the chief guest at the one day Mega Event Awareness Programme on Various Workers' Welfare Schemes held at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen, Palace Compound under the aegis of Department of Labour, Government of Manipur and Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board on June 29 .
Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh and Labour and Employment Minister Th Radheshyam were also present as presidium members .
Biren assured to bring all round development and improvement for the people and pointed out that the State Government would not rest and keep on taking up various developmental works and projects for the welfare of the State and its people .
He explained that he along with the State's Labour Minister have started taking up steps to provide various benefits to the workers and labourers like scholarships for their children, pension for labourers above the age of 60 and health insurance facilities etc .
Y Joykumar also assured that the State Government would do everything in its power to ease the hardship faced by the labourers and urged the labourers of the State to perform their duties diligently and sincerely .
Y Radheshyam assured that smart cards would be provided to more than 7000 labourers of the State to enable them to avail various social security schemes, pension and insurance facilities .
50 cycles, 120 sewing machines and 200 school bags were distributed to the workers and labourers and two ambulances were provided for Bishnupur and Thoubal districts specially for the labourers as a part of the function.
