IED blast at AR check post kills jawan, injures two other

Imphal, June 30 2017:
A jawan of the Assam Rifles was killed and two of his compatriots were injured when unidentified persons detonated a powerful IED at a check post manned by the paramilitary personnel early this morning.
According to sources the fatal explosion took place at around 7.20 am in very close vicinity of the security check point of 27 AR F-Coy Lambui post which falls under the jurisdiction of Shangshak police station in Ukhrul district.
The deceased was identified as rifleman Biju Sorupuwar of Lathow village in North Lakhimpur district of Assam while the two injured were identified as havildar Yash Pal from Hajalta village in Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir and rifleman Nihar Ranjan Das of Gopea village in Kendra Para district of Odhisha.
The area was immediately cordoned off by security forces and no civilian access was allowed for some time.
