ATSUM to resume economic blockade from Monday midnight

All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM-T) has threatened to impose indefinite economic blockade in the National highways and closing of all the national projects from June 22 midnight in furtherance of their demands code named "Reckoning of the Other" (ROTO) .
In a statement issued by ATSUM-T President Maun Tombing said that they have been demanding regularization the 268 hill contractual teachers and 333 adhoc teachers; setting up of scheduled tribe commission; filling up of ST reservation baglog posts at JNIMS, Manipur Legislative Assembly secretariat and other departments; bifurcation of power to additional director (hills), education (s) and complete transfer of land records which are still in the custody of valley districts to their respective hill districts since 2012 .
He alleged that Ibobi led congress government is still sleeping on the tribal grievances.
It may be mentioned that representatives of ATSUM and Government of Manipur had a meeting on October 22, 2014 and the government agreed to fulfill their demands.
The students' union also submitted ultimatum to the chief minister of Manipur on April 13 to translate the government promises before June 14, Tombing added.
They sought support from all sections to support the tribal genuine demands.
