Heroin, gold biscuits seized along Imphal-Moreh route

Two women were hauled up after Customs officials detected nine gold biscuit pieces on the vehicle they were travelling near Kondong Lairembi on June 19 at about 4 pm.
The women were travelling towards Imphal from Moreh when the vehicle was checked.
Sources from Customs said that the seized gold biscuits is worth about Rs 41 lakh and added that the nine biscuits weighed about 1.5 kgs.
On the other hand troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) apprehended a woman along with heroin during a frisking drive conducted at Khudengthabi on June 19 .
She was heading towards Imphal in a silver coloured Maruti van bearing registration number MN/01S/7764 .
She has been identified as Vungkholching (33) w/o Khuplamkap of Paichamveng Moreh Ward No 2 .
Three packets of heroin weighing around 36 grams and other incriminating articles were recovered from her possession, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
The woman revealed that she was carrying the contraband drugs from Moreh to Pallel to deliver it to an unknown person at Pallel.
The woman along with the recovered items were handed over to Moreh police station, the press release added.
