Bishnupur relief camp completes one year

While informing that the relief camp set up at Old DC Complex near Lou-koipat by Bishnupur Apunba Tengbang Lup in collaboration with Bishnupur district administration has completed one year of existence, Tengbang Lup secretary M Bilkee Singh credited those in-charge of different units of the camp for the smooth operation of the facility.
Speaking to media persons at the relief camp on Thursday flanked by members of the central committee of the Lup, the secretary informed that the relief camp housing 310 internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to the ongoing ethnic conflict which began on May 3, has been operating with support of the people.
Further stating that sub-committees are overseeing operation of the relief camp's kitchen, health, hygiene and education sector, women and child welfare and store house, he commended tireless effort of the in-charges in ensuring prompt mitigation of inconveniences faced, if any, by residents.
It is said that total of 105 students studying in class KG to BA are pursuing proper education with fund support of the donors.
Bilkee also informed that the central committee has been facilitating free medical assistance to the IDPs including some who underwent surgeries for different ailments including orthopaedic and gynaecology cases among others.
Stating that the committee had conducted various religious rituals and ceremonies, the secretary affirmed that the committee will continue to endeavour to provide means of livelihood for the IDPs.
