Amar Maibam's Highways of Life to screen at Liberation Docfest Bangladesh

Highways of Life directed by Amar Maibam and produced by Films Division India will have its world premiere in the International competition section of Liberation Docfest Bangladesh.
The film follows a group of truckers as they manoeuvre through the perilous highways, putting their lives on the frontline, ferrying essential commodities to serve the people of Manipur in two intense public movements played out on the highways.
Other documentary films from the Northeast to be screened at non-competitive section are Bloody Phanek directed by Sonia Nepram in the category of Cinema of the World.
Longphuru Sky by Kivini Shohe, Nupi Shabi by Haobam Paban, Tales from our childhood by Mukul Haloi, Ima Sabitri by Bobo Khuraijam will be screened in the category of Documentaries of North East India.
Altogether 1780 films were submitted from 112 countries for the festival.
Out of which 77 films have been selected to be screened in the Liberation Docfest Bangladesh.
Organized by Liberation War Museum, the festival is decided to be held online from June 16-20, 2020 due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Liberation Docfest Bangladesh is dedicated to documentary cinema, seeking to highlight the struggle for liberation and human rights of people in various parts of the world and its contemporary significance.
It seeks to uphold new forms of viewing human suffering and struggle for justice in a global perspective.
Notably, Highways of Life has won four awards in the 13th Manipur State Film Awards 2020 such as best non- feature film, best direction, best cinematography and best editing.
