40 more test positive to take total tally to 406

With 40 samples tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS and JNIMS during the last 24 hours, the State's total tally has climbed to 406 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 17 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS last night and another two at JNIMS.
Four of the positive people belong to Imphal East, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, and Noney, two to Imphal West, four to Ukhrul and nine to Kakching.
Moreover, 21 samples out of 649 tested today at JNIMS were found positive for COVID-19 .
However, it is not yet clear to which districts they belong and where they came from.

Our Churachandpur correspondent reports that even as the district today witnessed 9 more new cases, the district administration has stepped up its efforts to ensure conformation to norms at quarantine centres and asked civil and police officials to visit the QCs on a daily basis.
The nine cases today are all Delhi returnees who are quarantined at Gandhi Memorial HS.
The new cases that took the district's tally to 55 are all being shifted to JNIMS Covid-19 facilities, according to a statement from the district common control room.
Acting swiftly on the new cases, District Magistrate Pawan Yadav immediately declared the school from where the new cases were detected as containment zone as required by the State's Covid-19 regulations.
The active Covid-19 cases however stand at 35 as 20 others have recovered and are already discharged from the hospital.
A total of 171 samples were collected today while the number of test results obtained by the district yesterday and today stand at 425 .
Of these, 9 have returned positive results.
Meanwhile the district administration has, as assured earlier, sent its officials to conduct spot verification and interact with inmates of the quarantine centres run across the district.
In some centres the police have also begun stationing its personnel while the civil administration has installed flood lights to secure the parameters of some QCs.
Four people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at RIMS tested negative today.
Two of them are residents of Ukhrul districts and the other two belong to Kamjong district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the State this evening together with top ranking Government officials including officials of Health Department.
So far, 22,000 Manipuri people have returned to the State from different parts of India by train and another 8000 by air.
For accommodating these returnees, 133 institutional quarantine centres and 600 community quarantine centres have been opened.
On the other hand, COVID Care Centre opened at UNACCO School, Meitram has been commissioned today.
Initially, the COVID Care Centre would have 100 beds and it would be increased, if necessary, said Dr Sasheekumar.
Till date, 22,202 samples have been tested.
