Imphal, August 11, 2013:
Border fencing cannot be done without following the international norms; but the present border fencing along Indo-Myanmar International boundary in Moreh will only make Manipur loses a large portion of its land to Myanmar.
Manipur has got lots to lose, not India from the ongoing border fencing, Dr M Nara, Secretary of CPI, Manipur State Council has exclaimed.
In an exclusive interview with Hueiyen Lanpao, Dr M Nara stated that a National Executive meeting of CPI was held at Ajay Bhawan, New Delhi on August 7 and 8 to discuss the issue of border fencing along Indo-Myanmar border in Moreh.
The meeting unanimously resolved to press the concerned authority to stop the border fencing until the true boundary line is known and a memorandum in this regard was handed over to Lok Sabha MP D Raja on August 8 to bring up the matter in the Parliament.
Dr Nara said that India Government should not do whatever it likes without the consent of the people of Manipur.
So, it would be proper on the part of the India Government to discuss the matter with some of the highly qualified officers of the State.
Trade between the two neighbouring nations should be developed but it should be understood that with the border dispute remaining unresolved there can be no love between the two nations.
Dr M Nara also pointed out that the manner in which the Government of India is carrying out the border fencing process is against the interest of the people of Manipur.
This will create hatred and distrust among the people of both sides and as such, there can never be any development.
