ML to be developed as alternative NH-2 route

Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar inspected Mayai Lambi (ML) for development as an alternative route of National Highway No.2 passing through Mayang Imphal, Wabagai and Kakching Lamkhai today.
Dr Ratankumar was accompanied by MLA of Kakching Constituency Y Surchandra and officials of Public Works Department and Settlement Department during the inspection.
Talking to media persons on the sideline of inspection tour, the Works Minister said that the proposal for development of Mayai Lambi as an alternative route of NH-2 has been sent to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The matter was also raised during a meeting of Chief Ministers and Works Ministers of NE states held at Guwahati.
He further said that Mayai Lambi is currently the State Highway No..1For development as a National Highway, the road has to be expanded for 30 metres at places where there are houses and 45 metres where there are no houses.
He has also talked to the people about the project and appealed to them not to cause any hindrance while taking up the road expansion works.
Land survey for the road expansion would be conducted soon, Ratankumar added.
The Ministerial team also inspected the road leading to Kakching Uyok Garden for necessary expansion and development works to be taken up under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) under Hiyanglam Constituency.
Works Minister Ratankumar also met locals of Sekmaijin area regarding road expansion works.
They assured the Minister of rendering full cooperation while taking up the development works.
