Dr Kamal International Manipuri Literature Festival 2022 concludes

The valedictory ceremony of the two-day Dr Kamal International Manipuri Literature Festival 2022 which was jointly organised by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya and Phunga Heritage and celebrated across several places in meghalaya was conducted yesterday.
The participants of the literary event walked from Phunga Heritage, Shillong in an event titled "Khorirol Khongchat" (Walk for Literature) as a part of the valedictory ceremony.
The participants first arrived at Manipur Memorial Stone, All Saints Church and also visited the schools where Dr Kamal and noted writer MK Binodini studied.
The group also visited various places in Shillong that were mentioned in Dr Kamal's books.
One of the participants by the name of Lairenlakpam Sarat narrated Dr Kamal's appreciation for the Beadon Bishop's Waterfall as the group visited the site.
A poetry competition was also conducted at Smith Heritage Complex chaired by Sahitya Akademi awardee Thiyam Saratchand.
Speaking on the occasion, Thiyam Saratchand stated that lauded the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya for successfully organising the literary festival.
Aside from this, a cultural evening was also held at Asian Conference Auditorium Hall.
During this event, five singers including renowned Manipuri singer Laishram Mema performed on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Munish Ningthoujam, president Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya stated that the Parishad will pour its efforts in upgrading this literary festival to an international level and further ensure that Dr kamal and his literary works are celebrated world wide.
Kamaljit Chirom, secretary Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya also spoke a few words and shared that the festival was successful because of the participation of delegates from various places including Manipur.
