Curfew imposed in Tamenglong town

Tamenglong, March 07 2022:
Tamenglong district administration on Monday invoked Section 144 of CrPC in the area of 2kms radius of the Mini Secretariat complex and the Deputy Commissioner's bungalow at Tamenglong district headquarters.
The curfew order signed by district magistrate Hungyo Worshang and marked as 'Election Urgent' came a day after hundreds of National People's Party (NPP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress supporters and volunteers stormed the DC's office premises and official residence demanding repoll for some polling stations under 52-Tamei (ST) AC.
The order said that assembly of five or more persons or carrying of any weapons or instruments that can be used as offensive weapons is prohibited.
However, the order shall not apply to the security forces, government officials and staff on election duty, it added.
The order will remain in force till the day of poll counting on March 10 .
It further directed that SDO/ADM Tamenglong Rohit Anand is detailed as executive magistrate (EM) for maintaining law and order in the district and liaise with district police.
