Thoubal, March 07 2022:
BJP supporters organised a sit-in protest at Babu Bazar, Kiyam Siphai in Thoubal district against the allegations of proxy voting in four polling stations of Kiyam Siphai area under Wangkhem assembly constituency while terming the charges as an attempt of INC candidate to push for a re-poll.
Interacting with the media at the protest venue, general secretary of BJP candidate Y Nabachandra's election committee S Dhiren said that the allegation levelled by INC candidate MLA K Meghachandra regarding proxy voting in four polling stations located at Kiyam Siphai Amurijam Leikai, Kiyam Siphai, Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi and Kiyam Siphai Laithagol are baseless.
There was no election malpractices in these polling stations and poll process was conducted strictly under the guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission.
Every elector exercised their voting rights freely, he said, while accusing MLA Meghachandra of trying to disrupt peaceful atmosphere in the locality with his unfounded claims.
