Imphal, March 07 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken has stated that Congress will emerge as the single largest party in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and form a Congress-led coalition government in the state.
In a tete-a-tete with The People's Chronicle on Monday, N Loken predicted that Congress will win 8-9 seats in the first phase of the assembly elections held on February 28 and around 22 seats including 9 from Thoubal district alone, in the second phase held on March 5, Thus, Congress would be winning over 20 seats in the election, thereby becoming the single largest party.
Informing that the party is in talks with other political parties to form a Congress-led coalition government, the MPCC president remarked that many poll-related violent incidents were witnessed during the election, the likes of which he had never seen in his political career.
Although it was alleged that the hills saw selection and not election in the last polls, the same was witnessed in the valley this time around, which is unfortunate for democracy.
If this trend continues, all issues and development would be adversely affected.
BJP saw to the rise of acts of gunda (goon), which was never seen throughout the term of Congress, he stated.
